CHI GUNG : SHIBASHI : TAICHI
Classes, workshops and retreats with Clive Tempest
in Taunton, Somerset, UK, and in Finland
Chi Gung or qigong is the basis of taichi. Its postures and movements provide a gentle form of exercise that is both relaxing and energising.
In taichi the exercises are practised in sequence to promote wellbeing and a balanced approach to life.
Clive Tempest uses chi gung as a practice for living more consciously and helps you appreciate the principles encoded in the taichi forms.
These principles are founded in the ancient wisdom of taoist sages and can still guide us day to day.
Conscious Connections workshops and retreats. Opportunities to go deeper into the meditative qualities of the practice,
connecting the physical exercises to the bigger picture of everyone's life.
Programme There are weekly classes in Taunton for intermediate and more advanced practitioners,
introductory courses for beginners and workshops and retreats in England and in Finland. Details here.
The Hestercombe Chi Gung Group meets at Cheddon Fitzpaine on Wednesday mornings throughout the year.
Taichi is traditionally practised outdoors in settings of natural beauty and so the group also meets on Saturdays in Hestercombe Gardens from Easter to October.
There's more detail about shibashi, chi gung and the weekly classes here.
Beginners Classes or intensive courses are held once or twice a year to introduce newcomers to the basic shibashi exercises and the essential principles of this work.
Talks & Meetings
Chi gung practice can be seen as the groundwork for living more consciously, which means being relatively free of psychological stress
- free enough to know the purpose of your life and be fulfilled in whatever you do. Meetings are held periodically to develop this aspect of the work.
PRACTICE AT HESTERCOMBE
Continuing on Saturday mornings through the summer. Meet in Reception at 10.15am.
